Was Born in 1920 in Jiquilpan, Mexico. Because of illness and remoteness of his village, he had only three years of general education in the Salesian College, Guadalajara. He has lived in Latin American, USA, and Europe for long periods and currently works in San Angel, Mexico City, on a piece of land he landscaped himself. It’s filled with sculptures and constructions: houses, open-air theatre, and various studios. Indefatigable and with a passion for experimenting, he works in many media – tapestry, painting, prints sculptures in bronze, wood, stone, welding steel, plastic and crystal. Since his first show in New York in 1948, he has numerous one man exhibitions in Mexico, U.S.A., Canada, El Salvador, England, France, Norway, Holland, and Switzerland. Participated in various international print exhibitions. In 1972 and 1974 he was an invited artist of the British Print Biennale. He has permanent collections in more than 40 museums and institutions.
